Blood Testing

Understanding your health starts with the right information. At Staveley Pharmacy, we offer a wide range of private blood tests and health panels, giving you direct access to laboratory testing without the need for a GP referral. Whether you want to check your vitamin levels, assess your hormone health, screen for infections, or get a comprehensive picture of your overall wellbeing, we can help.

Results are returned quickly and we are here to help you make sense of what they mean. If any results require follow-up, we can advise on the appropriate next steps.

Why Choose a Private Blood Test?

NHS blood testing is invaluable, but access is sometimes limited to specific clinical situations. Private testing gives you more control over your own health and allows you to:

  • Test without waiting for a GP appointment or referral
  • Choose exactly which markers you want to check
  • Access tests that are not routinely available on the NHS
  • Receive prompt results, often within a few days
  • Monitor ongoing health conditions or track changes over time
  • Gain peace of mind ahead of a health concern becoming more serious

What Can a Blood Test Tell You?

The range of conditions and markers that can be assessed through blood testing is broad. Depending on which tests you choose, you could gain insight into:

  • Nutritional deficiencies including iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate, magnesium, and zinc
  • Hormone health including thyroid function, reproductive hormones, cortisol, and testosterone
  • Cardiovascular risk including cholesterol, lipid profiles, and inflammatory markers such as CRP
  • Diabetes and blood sugar including HbA1c and fasting glucose
  • Kidney and liver function to detect early signs of organ stress or damage
  • Fertility and reproductive health for both men and women
  • Sexual health including screening for a range of STIs
  • Immune health and infection markers including hepatitis, HIV, and antibody levels
  • Cancer markers such as PSA, CEA, CA 125, and CA 15-3

How Does the Process Work?

We aim to make blood testing as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Here is what to expect:

  • Choose your test by browsing the options below or speaking with our team if you are unsure which tests are right for you
  • Book your appointment at a convenient time; some tests require fasting beforehand, and we will let you know in advance if yours is one of them
  • Your sample is taken by our trained phlebotomist at the pharmacy and sent to our accredited laboratory partner
  • Results are returned to you, typically within two to five working days depending on the test
  • We are here to help with any questions about your results and can advise on appropriate next steps if anything requires further attention

Who Is Private Blood Testing Suitable For?

Private blood testing is suitable for most adults. You do not need to be experiencing symptoms to benefit from testing; many people use our service as part of a proactive approach to health monitoring. Testing may be particularly useful if you:

  • Have a family history of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or hormonal disorders
  • Are feeling persistently tired, unwell, or not quite yourself without an obvious cause
  • Are planning a pregnancy or investigating fertility concerns
  • Are going through perimenopause or menopause and want to understand your hormone levels
  • Have recently started or are considering hormone replacement therapy or testosterone replacement therapy
  • Want to monitor a known health condition more regularly than NHS appointments allow
  • Are an athlete or active individual wanting to optimise your nutrition and performance
Not sure which test to book? Please get in touch before your appointment and we will be happy to talk through the options with you. We can help you choose the most relevant individual tests or panels based on your symptoms, history, and goals.

Happy Customers

What our customers say

“Thank you Staveley Pharmacy for the way in which you dealt with my dad’s prescription following our call to NHS111.  It was very much appreciated.”

A Hames

“Didn’t have my prescription in stock due to suppliers being out of stock, so rang round other chemists in the area. When no luck the owner rang GP to get the prescription changed for a similar alternative. Stayed open late whilst waiting for GP to get back in touch. Incredible service and very much appreciated thank you.”

M Wardle

“Prompt and organised team, a huge and valuable range of services, from medication to health checks, and equipment. Staveley Pharmacy is most valued by the District nursing team.”
