Aesthetics

At Staveley Pharmacy, we offer a range of professional aesthetic treatments carried out in a safe, clinical environment by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Whether you are considering Botox for the first time or looking to maintain results you already love, we are here to guide you with honest, personalised advice. Our focus is always on natural-looking results that enhance your features rather than change them.

What Is Botox and How Does It Work?

Botox is the most widely recognised name for botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles. When injected in small, precise amounts, it reduces the movement that causes dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form when you frown, squint, or raise your eyebrows.

Results typically begin to appear within three to five days of treatment, with the full effect visible at around two weeks. Most patients find their results last between three and six months, after which the muscle activity gradually returns and a top-up treatment can be considered.

What Areas Can Botox Treat?

Botox is most commonly used on the upper face, but its applications extend further than many people realise. At Staveley Pharmacy, we offer treatment for:

  • Forehead lines caused by raising the eyebrows
  • Frown lines between the brows (the “11s”)
  • Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
  • Neck bands and the Nefertiti lift, which tightens and defines the jawline and neck
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating), where Botox blocks the signals that trigger sweat glands

Each treatment area is assessed individually. We will discuss your concerns and goals at consultation and only recommend areas where treatment is clinically appropriate and likely to give you a natural result.

What About Dermal Fillers?

Alongside Botox, we also offer dermal filler treatments. Fillers use hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body, to add volume, definition, and structure to areas of the face that have lost fullness over time or that you would like to enhance. Popular treatments include:

  • Lip filler to add volume, improve symmetry, or enhance definition
  • Cheek filler to restore or create lifted, contoured cheekbones
  • Jawline filler to sharpen and define the lower face

Filler treatments are tailored entirely to you. We use a conservative approach, particularly for first-time patients, to ensure results are subtle and in proportion with your natural features.

Is Botox Safe?

When carried out by a qualified, experienced practitioner, Botox is a well-established and safe treatment. It has been used in medical and cosmetic settings for decades and has a strong safety record when administered correctly.

As with any injectable treatment, there are potential side effects, which we will discuss in full at your consultation. Common temporary effects can include:

  • Mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site
  • Slight headache following forehead treatment
  • Temporary heaviness or drooping if the product migrates, though this is rare with an experienced practitioner

Serious complications are uncommon. We take a thorough medical history before every treatment and will not proceed if there is any reason to believe it would not be safe for you.

Who Is Suitable for Botox Treatment?

Botox is suitable for most healthy adults who are looking to address dynamic wrinkles or who have a medical concern such as excessive sweating. You may not be suitable for treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis
  • Have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or any of its ingredients
  • Are taking certain medications that may interact with the treatment
  • Have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area

A full consultation is required before any treatment takes place. This gives us the opportunity to review your health history, discuss your goals, and confirm that Botox is the right choice for you.

What Happens at Your Appointment?

We want every patient to feel confident and informed before their treatment begins. Here is what to expect at a typical appointment at Staveley Pharmacy:

  • A consultation to discuss your concerns, goals, and medical history
  • A review of the treatment areas with your practitioner, including which muscles will be targeted and what results are realistic
  • Photographs taken before treatment for your records
  • The injections themselves, which take only a few minutes per area and involve minimal discomfort
  • Aftercare advice covering what to avoid in the hours following treatment
  • A follow-up review at two weeks to assess results and address any concerns

Most appointments take between 30 and 45 minutes including the consultation. The injections themselves are quick, and the majority of patients return to normal activities immediately.

How Long Do Results Last?

This varies from person to person and depends on the area treated, the dose used, and how your body metabolises the product. As a general guide:

  • Botox typically lasts between three and six months before a top-up is needed
  • Lip filler usually lasts six to twelve months depending on the product used and individual metabolism
  • Cheek and jawline filler can last twelve to eighteen months or longer in some cases
  • Underarm sweating treatment generally provides relief for six to twelve months

With regular treatments over time, many patients find that results last a little longer as the muscles gradually become conditioned to relaxing. We will always advise you on the right interval for your top-up based on how your results progress.

Consultations: A consultation is required before all aesthetic treatments at Staveley Pharmacy. This is included in your appointment and ensures your treatment is safe, appropriate, and tailored to you. We are happy to answer any questions beforehand, so please do not hesitate to get in touch before booking.

What our customers say

“Thank you Staveley Pharmacy for the way in which you dealt with my dad’s prescription following our call to NHS111.  It was very much appreciated.”

A Hames

“Didn’t have my prescription in stock due to suppliers being out of stock, so rang round other chemists in the area. When no luck the owner rang GP to get the prescription changed for a similar alternative. Stayed open late whilst waiting for GP to get back in touch. Incredible service and very much appreciated thank you.”

M Wardle

“Prompt and organised team, a huge and valuable range of services, from medication to health checks, and equipment. Staveley Pharmacy is most valued by the District nursing team.”
